Cyanotype Works 2016/2017 consists of a number of works using the Cyanotype printing process. The works are all hand printed on Saunders Waterford cotton paper and sun exposed. There are a number of series which I have been working on over the last 3 years.
The works have been inspired by the writing of Aby Warberg and W.J.T Mitchell who postulate that images are not too dissimilar to other living organisms. In the evolution of images, some images have died off by being lost, forgotten or ignored. In todays digitised image world, it is possible to find forgotten or ignored images and rework them by combining images together to create, as it were, a new species of images. By combining images together the possibility of unforeseen visual connections and associations is something that I find very exciting to work with.
