Double Time 2010-2013

The series Double Time is constructed from photographs that I have taken at different times and places. As every photographer in the digital age knows that storage and image management is essential to keep track of the ever-growing personal databases of images. The result of an oversupply of images is that most images will remain lying dormant either neatly named and indexed or as an untitled file in some untitled folder on a hard drive.

Aby Warburg’s famous last work the Mnemosyne Atlas¬†, inspired me to start looking at my large dormant image file collection.¬† After working with these dormant images for some time it became apparent that is was an exercise in activating otherwise passive image files. The resulting series Double Time plays with the ideas of chronological cuts and geographical jumps resulting in unlikely visual connections.
